Breedlove Guitar Company is based in Bend, Oregon. In 1974, Mr. Kim Breedlove decided to educate himself. He got the proper training and tools for becoming a high level Luthier. He wanted to create high quality musical instruments. Mr. Breedlove was the brain behind the Breedlove Guitar Company, but actually the company was established by his brother, Larry Breedlove and his friend, Steve Henderson. Today, after so many years, Mr. Breedlove still works as a master luthier for his company.
When the company was started, it quickly developed a range of musical instruments. The initial models were specially developed for the finger style guitarists. And these guitars had distinctive shapes and used woods like the walnut and myrtle.
Today, the company makes different kinds of guitars.

The ‘Atlas Series’ from Breedlove has a number of different basses like the great ABJ250/SM4. This acoustic bass guitar is made of a jumbo body (seventeen inch lower bout with a four inch depth at the heel and a five inch depth at the tail block). This is a soft cutaway guitar. The top of this instrument is of solid sitka spruce and the back and sides are of mahogany. The combination of mahogany and sitka spruce gives it a really deep and mellow sound.

This acoustic bass guitar produces decent volume because of the JLD bridge truss system. The ABJ250/SM model is not loud by any means, but the volume of this guitar is sufficient enough to play unplugged.
