He bought an old Gibson SG with broken neck, he would fix it and then play it for sometime and then sell it. Dean Zelinsky hired his karate teacher to look for antique guitars. Dean made a chart for his teacher that had information about every valuable guitar available at the time.
At 18, Dean started a Guitars repair shop in Northbrook, Illinois. He did this as an academically accredited work-study program with his school. Soon, he decided to make his own guitars as repairing guitars did not reward him financially.
Today, this company makes many types of instruments. The Dean Acoustic Electric Guitar is very popular among the guitarists.
