Ibanez Guitar Company is owned by the Hoshino Gakki Group based in Aichi, Japan. The Gakki group is one of the few Japanese musical instrument companies that have gained a significant foothold in America and Europe.
Actually, the Ibanez Guitar was originated in Spain some 600 years ago. During the Spanish Civil War in 1960s, Japanese group bought the rights to distribute these guitars in the US. The Ibanez instruments entered the US music market as cheap replicas of famous names like Fender and Rickenbacker. All over the country, the Guitar shops would showcase the Ibanez acoustic guitars on the shelves. The guitars soon became popular because of the good quality that was available at very low price.
