The Washburn Guitar Company is not as big as others like Gibson and Fender, but this small group manufacturers quality instruments and has been around since 1883. The Company did not make electric instruments back then, but it was producing other fine instruments.
Throughout the history of 100+ years, the Washburn group has produced more than just acoustic and electric guitars. Washburn manufactures amps, banjos, mandolins and electric bass guitars. They are also credited as being the first guitar manufacturer that used musicians to endorse their instruments. In the last few decades, Washburn has had some greatest musicians associated with them. These stars promoted Washburn guitars and had signature models especially for them - Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson Jeff Beck), Dimebag Darell (Pantera and Damageplan), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) and Paul Stanley (Kiss). When the music industry started to blossom this group supplied instruments to musicians who were into the blues heavily. It was like a natural progression from the roots of Washburn. The Washburn Electric Bass guitar range is known for its ultimate sound.
